Niclosamide is a decades-old anti-parasitic drug now being studied for cancer, but the evidence is still mostly from cell and animal studies. It disrupts several pathways tumors rely on (STAT3, Wnt, mTOR, mitochondrial energy). Its main obstacle is poor absorption into the bloodstream, so many papers test new formulations and modified molecules.
Three cancer trials are currently active on ClinicalTrials.gov; all are small, early-phase studies.
NCT05188170
